Empowering Women Through Education: A Conversation with Dr. Chryston Fadeyi
At My Own FILO, we believe that every woman deserves access to knowledge, care, and tools that support her in living a healthy, empowered life. That’s why we’re honored to share the story of Dr. Chryston Fadeyi, a passionate women’s health physical therapist, educator, and international advocate. From Atlanta to the Congo, Dr. Fadeyi’s work focuses on creating space for women to reconnect with their bodies, their health, and their joy.
From Atlanta to the Congo: A Passion for Global Health
Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Fadeyi co-owns and co-runs a thriving women’s health practice alongside her business partner, Dr. NaPortia Mitchell.Together, they’ve created a safe space for women to explore sexual and reproductive health through clinically informed physical therapy—with nearly 20 years of combined experience.
But Dr. Fadeyi’s dedication goes beyond her clinic walls.
When her husband received an opportunity to work in public health in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she followed—with a mission of her own: to educate and uplift women through knowledge.
“Unfortunately, women’s healthcare in the Congo is severely lacking,” she shares. “As the fourth poorest country in the world, healthcare and education are far behind. There is a huge economic divide. Many women simply don’t have access to the care they need.”
That’s where Dr. Fadeyi stepped in. She gave presentations to young girls on puberty, menstruation, and sexual health. She also led conversations on menopause, childbirth, and postpartum recovery—topics often left unspoken in many communities.
But perhaps most inspiring? She also worked with young fathers.
“I had the opportunity to educate new and expecting fathers about the birthing and healing process,” she says. “By helping them understand what their partners go through, it encourages stronger support, better maternal health, and deeper emotional bonds within the family.”
Moments That Matter Most
Back in Atlanta, Dr. Fadeyi continues to focus on one-on-one care that transforms lives. And while her clinical work is grounded in science and research, it’s the emotional moments that keep her going.
“The most powerful experience is that first encounter with a woman who has felt lost, ignored, or dismissed by the healthcare system,” she explains. “When I help her see a path forward—a life with less pain and more joy—that’s everything. Every woman deserves a pain-free, fulfilling sexual experience and to feel at home in her body.”
Dreams That Shape the Future
Despite her busy practice, Dr. Fadeyi has a bigger dream: to one day make her work unnecessary.
“My business partner and I always say—we want to educate so many women that one day, no one needs our services anymore. We want to put ourselves out of business through empowerment.”
Raising the Next Generation With Confidence
As a mother of two, Dr. Fadeyi brings the same principles into her own home.
“With my 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, I teach them clear, honest language about their bodies. We don’t use nicknames or create shame around touch or curiosity. I want them to own their bodies, understand consent, and know their sexual health and pleasure is something to be respected and celebrated.”
She adds, “Especially for my daughter, I want her to grow up never feeling ashamed of her body or her desires. That’s why I’m proud to support brands like FILO—because our values align. We both believe in empowering women and creating a more open, educated conversation around intimacy.”
At FILO, we believe stories like Dr. Fadeyi’s are essential in reshaping the narrative around women’s health and intimacy. Education, connection, and compassion are at the core of everything we do—and we’re so proud to partner with voices that are leading this important work.
