Empowering Wellness Through Movement: Meet Dr. Allison Scova, PT, DPT

In the world of physical therapy, there are practitioners—and then there are passionate change-makers like Dr. Allison Scova. With a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mercy College and a background in Exercise Science from SUNY Cortland, Dr. Scova has spent years sharpening her expertise in movement, healing, and holistic care.

We sat down with Dr. Scova to learn more about her journey, her passion for women's health, and why personalized, one-on-one care is at the heart of everything she does.

A Passion for Movement, A Mission to Heal

“Movement is my passion,” Dr. Scova says. “Being able to improve the well-being of others through movement practices is truly a rewarding experience.”

This passion isn’t just theoretical—it's backed by serious credentials. Dr. Scova holds certifications in pelvic floor therapy through Herman & Wallace, is certified in dry needling and has completed advanced training in Postural Restoration and Cervical Spine Management.

But for her, it’s not just about technique. It’s more about personalized care. “High-quality one-on-one services are the future of healthcare. When practitioners can focus on fewer patients, the outcomes speak for themselves.”

A Business Rooted in Empowerment

Dr. Scova’s business is built around a simple but powerful mission:
“To enhance health and wellbeing with tailored physical therapy that transforms movement, enhances healing, and restores function.”

This mission is lived out daily in her commitment to holistic, client-centered care, where every person is empowered to take charge of their own wellness journey.

Advocacy for Women’s Health

One area where Dr. Scova is especially vocal? Postpartum care.
“In many countries, women are automatically referred to pelvic floor physical therapy after giving birth. In the U.S., it’s often overlooked—unless you advocate for yourself.”

She believes pelvic floor therapy should be standard postpartum care. “It’s a lost gem in a woman’s journey, and it’s time we change that.”

A Collaborative Approach

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Dr. Scova often works hand-in-hand with orthopedists, OB/GYNs, personal trainers, and massage therapists. “Collaboration is key,” she explains. “Wellness is multi-pillar—physical therapy is just one part of the puzzle.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Scova dreams of working fully for herself, offering not only physical therapy but also health coaching. Her goal?
“To be surrounded by clients who are as passionate about health and wellness as I am.”

She envisions a community where people understand that healing is multi-dimensional, involving mindset, lifestyle, and movement.

Why Patients Love Working with Her

One of Dr. Scova’s greatest strengths is her ability to connect. “I’m not just their PT—I’m their ally,” she says. “We spend more time with patients than most other healthcare providers. That trust, that relationship—it’s essential to healing.”

And that’s exactly why so many patients stick with her: because they don’t just feel treated—they feel seen, heard, and supported.

Final Words

In a healthcare world that often feels rushed and impersonal, Dr. Allison Scova stands out as a beacon of thoughtful, individualized care. She’s not just changing how we move—she’s changing how we heal.
